Unconditional Love

15 Feb

Unconditional LoveLove is a basic human need and we all want love in our lives.  Not just romantic fairy-tale sort of love, but deep, understanding, forgiving and accepting love.  Throughout all times love has featured conspicuously in art – poetry written about love, plays and songs written, music composed and so on. Without love we feel hollow and when love is present in our lives it adds an extra dimension.

You Love in Spite of Faults

Loving unconditionally means loving somebody in spite of their faults and what they may have done.  A classic model of unconditional love is the unwavering love a mother has for her child.

Having self love is a good place to build a first stepping stone to creating and attracting love into your life.  When you firstly love yourself it is easier to give that love to others.  Practise speaking kindly and lovingly to yourself.   Look after yourself in every way and be aware of yourself talk.  Negative thoughts can be very damaging and not good for your self esteem.  We are very creative beings and by using our imagination and with the help of our own self talk we can create love in our lives through creative visualisation.  Taking this a step further into meditation will be even more powerful.

Forgiveness Plays a Big Part

Unconditional LoveShow kindness and compassion to others and be forgiving of yourself and others.  Forgiveness can be a way of letting go of past actions and perceived injustices in order to create a way of moving on.  Forgiveness can be a powerful action creating both inner peace and peace in the world around you.

Let go of judgments and blame and treat others with respect.  Believe in the good in people.  Apply these principles to your own close relationships and don’t place conditions on those you love.  Wanting to possess someone and placing conditions is like placing a threat.  It will usually have the reverse of the desired effect by pushing someone away from you. Love purely and without expecting anything in return.  Show your concern and appreciate the good points of those you love. Be willing to show your own vulnerability and be grateful for all that you have in life.
